HIP! Magazine and Directory: The Design Process
HIP! ( Heating Engineers, Installers and Plumbers) is the brainchild of Celia Mathews who in seeking to help plumbing students get set up in business decided to put some handy reference guides to the industry. This handbook is for those who are new to the industry and is packed with current information and contacts that every plumber should have to hand. The Directory which is 200+ pages in a handy A5 size is published annually. The HIP! magazine is 80 pages A4 size and published 3 times a year at the beginning of college term time. Both are given away free to all final year plumbing students throughout the UK. The design and layout is easy to read and aimed at the student market although is styled to appeal to industry advertisers that make up approximately a third of the pages. The directory and magazine have been incredibly successful and further plans are underway to produce student guides for other industries.
