Nessy Dyslexic Teaching Program: The Design Process
Nessy revolutionises the way dyslexics are taught, by using a fun learning system that encourages self-esteem. Nessy was born out of practical experience. Over the past 35 years Pat Jones, teacher and founder of the Bristol Dyslexia Centre and Belgrave School, has developed a series of successful techniques for teaching dyslexic students with learning disability. Mike, her dyslexic son, who also teaches at the BDC, has now incorporated the special techniques into a unique, comprehensive and inspirational programme using simple software. Lunatrix designed the 32 page A5 booklet that accompanies the software. The brightly laid out pages and design features many of the characters that are in the games and lessons. Featuring screenshots, puzzles and parent information. The text on the pages is a specially developed font that has been proven to help dyslexics read more easily and is set in a large point size throughout.
